Perverted-Justice has been in existence for approx. 3 years. For the first 2 of those years, the site owner and "Director of Operations", the shadowy unemployed 26-year-old computer gamer who insists on being called "Xavier Von Erck" (Actual name: Phillip Eide) had a very strict rule in place for his members - "The Rule of No First Contact" - The rule stated that any member of the group caught contacting police or the media regarding their activities would be summarily banned from the site. Only recently has the rule been "relaxed". In that time, they "busted" over 600 men with no police involvement whatsoever.

Two questions you may wish to ask: How many of those 600 were actual predators who were let walk free because the vigilantes didn't involve police? How many of those people were actually innocent and mistakenly ruined as a result of being targeted by untrained, anonymous Internet cop-wannabes?

The vigilante group has been involved in over 15 "group media busts" in which they involve the television media in their stings. Only one of these fifteen media circuses has had any law enforcement involvement whatsoever -The Dateline program broadcast on 3 Feb., 2006. Since the group started, contrary to the figures published on their site, they have "busted" a total of 1106 men. Of that 1106, they claim responsibility for 42 convictions.
