| Their
Motivations If
you've been targeted by PJ, the person you likely chatted with was, at best, a
PJ regular contributor, or may in fact be any person with internet access who
wants to score brownie points with PJ by playing amateur detective. After all,
what with 1000s of screen names (one of their operatives boasts over 100 himself),
secondary and primary Yahoo IDs that are created and discarded on a daily basis
by PJ personnel, there is no way of knowing if you talked with one of their sanctioned
regulars at all. A mere rookie registered user can claim victory and receive PJ’s
accolades, after having no more than 2 day’s membership, with no prior history
on their site forum. Such a person can follow along and be motivated by the feeding
frenzy as your chat logs are posted in the forums. Anyone can initiate a personal
witch hunt. This will be in the form of more chat room dialog, telephone conversations
with you, your boss, your teacher, your neighbor, your wife, your son or daughter
… all from that individual who at no time has supplied any proof he is in fact
of legal age himself. Operating under complete anonymity, an ambitious freelancer
brings back the spoils in the form of more tidbits of personal information on
you. This is again posted in the “Follow Up” forum section of their site without
any verification of its accuracy. It may be your address, or your neighbor’s,
or someone else called John Smith down the street. In any case, such work is met
with praise from the PJ executive. Many
of the PJ staff are in their late teens or early 20s. Primarily men but also some
women, that have a history of frequenting sex-based chat rooms, posing as under-aged
kids, for the purpose of a “joke”, or sexual kicks, or simple role play to see
if adults can be duped, prior to embarking on the noble cause of child protection
that the PJ website professes today. This umbrella serves to legitimize their
behavior allowing them to form cliques, in a cult-like fashion. Remember, many
of them are college aged kids. This is their way to thumb their noses at adults
and “make a difference”. Unfortunately their pranks are ruining people’s lives. Some
of their backgrounds, which in their mind makes them expert in classifying potential
pedophiles, is having had some sexual abuse in their past. It would certainly
explain a hatred of any and all sex, especially from older men. The
fact is these people have absolutely no accreditation but a lot of time on their
hands. They have no redeemable skills other than internet hacking, doing reverse-phone
lookups, and rallying their peers to form an internet mob. Some
final thoughts on the motives of PJ The
bulk of PJ founders are website designers, game players (role play), and computer
hackers. Various internet skills which some of these people have aplenty are brought
to bear. They are driven, focused individuals whose incredible zeal when coupled
with technical knowledge appears admirable. However, it is rooted in obsessive-compulsive
behavior, a need to fit into a peer group, and a need to always demonstrate one-upmanship
within that supportive environment. Their unwavering belief that they are doing
good (based on laudable goals supported by knee-jerk media coverage), along with
a mindset that borders on psychosis, produces the internet version of terrorist
acts. This
gives them the motive and determination to obtain information they find on publicly
accessible databases as well as confidential criminal history archives. These
were designed to be available to none but qualified researchers and law enforcement
personnel. Several incidents have surfaced that demonstrate this is not the case.
Sensitive material was made public by misguided individuals. Some have been reprimanded
subsequent to internal investigations at their workplace. You
have not committed a crime. PJ has. IM (Instant Message, or as it’s sometimes
called PM – Private Message) is by its intent private. This is the assumption
that you were under. The content of the dialog however has been exposed for public
viewing. You have not been convicted with due legal process. In real cases of
convicted pedophiles, even the accused/convicted/sentenced individual is afforded
the right to privacy. Like it or not, our legal system protects every citizen,
convicted or not, from harassment. The
PJ operatives are careful not to use the term “pedophile”. Instead they use the
nonsense term “wanna be pedophile” because they know they are treading a fine
line, just short of libel. Because they have no legal status, and they know it,
they are not subject to the limits of legal conduct with respect to due process,
they argue. They reason that exposing your personal information to the world is
something they can freely do because they are not bound by the ethics and strict
conduct befitting a trained professional in any officially recognized company
or association. Perhaps
you have been contacted by PJ or any of its loosely affiliated stalkers… PJ people
use 100s of different screen names, shifting personalities, and fake profiles.
When they contact you, you have no way of knowing who your are dealing with. It
could be anyone from their so-called “staff”, or anyone of the thousands of registered
users who followed your chats, have your phone number and/or address, etc. All
are visible to the general public. The
problem is they know your name, address, date-of-birth, car license number, SSN
(yes, some of the PJ operatives are divulging information like that illegally),
etc. You don’t know theirs. You are being harassed and accused by persons unknown.
Do not allow your place of work to be bullied by anonymous pranksters. Anyone
can be slandered in this way. Even people whom they have wrongly identified. It
does not matter to PJ whether they have the correct person. Everyone is at risk.
